This...

..book hasn't seen the light of day for an age... I started off with great enthusiasm but as you know my mojo just took off...it is making a  comeback but it's slow going. This is another new stamp from Crafty Individuals..great if you like to use portraits in your art journals and like me you cant draw them!

I used the large flower stamp too and embossed it with white.

added a little colour with Copics

and of course gave her a crown and a tattoo.

Month In Numbers

...as promised, the results of yesterday's EfemeraInk meeting. Most got theirs finished and some had time to add their photographs.

The book is basically five gatefold cards stuck together and a cover added. Cut five pieces of card 28x14cms and one piece 30x14cms, this one is your cover.Score all pieces 7cms from each end, on the larger piece score again 8cms from each end, this gives a spine of 1cm.Fold the five pieces and glue together,glue the centre piece to the cover...fold in all your pieces, starting from one end to the middle and then the other end to the middle............you will now have to really squish everything flat..takes some doing but it will eventually lay flat.

you can alter the measurements to make any size book...

A Change....

.....is as good as a rest, it's back to the inky paintyness. EfemeraInk meets on Monday and we are making this fold out book...

Jean is teaching this month so I can sit back and do as I'm told.

....well that's the theory..

I'm making another to use for my Month in Numbers journal.

No idea what I'll put in this one as yet.

The papers are all hand painted sheets that have been hanging around forever, a mixture of acrylic paints, inks and Brusho....I love Brusho!

It's difficult to photograph as it folds out..I'll post the instructions after Monday's meeting

Talk About....

...running before you can walk!...I've made simple quilts for a long time now but never tackled anything complicated or time consuming ( attention span of a gnat!) so I thought I might as well dive in at the deep end!
So I bought this book. I wanted The Sharon K Stone Quilts book but it's proving hard to find.

Here's my first effort...and no I'm not showing you the curved seams... not quite got those perfected yet. I think I'm going to either love these or hate them.... haven't decided yet.

If I can get the curves near perfect then I think it might be love!

Nostalgia!

The prompt for week 8 of the art journal was books.....and I listed Toby Twirl as one of my childhood favourites.......so imagine my surprise when I came across this in one of my local charity shops!

A large Toby Twirl book in fabulous condidtion, I only ever remember the small 5x7 size. The illustrations are the same beautiful art work. The pick up sticks were there too... I loved that game!

It's a Dogs Life!

Another craft book find....... £1.50! I love old craft books and this is full of patterns.... I had to try one out so I chose........

This little chap... how cute is he! A bit fiddly to make but he didn't take to long. What a difference using 100% wool felt makes, it's a joy to work with.

Alas the elephant pattern is missing as is the donkey... I love donkeys too! (too many rides at the sea side!)

This little fellow has a home to go to...... but I may make something else which needs adopting!

Old Books?

Old craft books facinate me, they are something I collect. There's always something to try. This one is about paper sculpture and has a section on window display (Which is interesting to me as I was a window dresser back in the days when there were such things!) This takes a circle.. any size, I've used the Sizzix scallop die and a few different sized scallop punches. With a a few scored lines using a circle cutter and a bit of manipulation a 3D flower can be formed

This is the book......... small but interesting! Fancy that!......... there's an owl in there too!

Something I made earlier..

A chipboard and acrylic book, the acrylic sheet is from a local sign makers, it comes in big sheets 6x4 feet.. that's a lot of books! It's filled with odd bits of stuff, the kind that's usually lying around on your desk!
