only a little way to go.

A Little....

...Retail therapy never hurt anyone..
Bank holidays mean car boot sales...I bought some printers blocks

Some fabulous vintage glass baubles... I managed to haggle and got them half price.

Earlier in the week I shopped in Standfast and Barrack's mill shop in Lancaster, going to make bags with this to sell at out next craft fair

Some more bag material from Immanuele's in Burnley... what a place!

and quilting fabric from The Sewing Centre Scarborough.. well worth a visit, this is for aprons and quilts.

couldn't resist this kitsch little deer.. he's destined for aprons too.

and finally a piece of Liberty linen... soon to be a jacket...for me.

No Fitting....

... Required!.. a little bit of relaxing sewing, one size fits all!

A small Christmas table runner,35 x 96 cm approx. this will probably end up on the Nice Stuff stall sometime in the future.

It was made using this ruler

I'm Not So....

..Enthusiastic about this quilt now I've started it, I loved the fabric when I bought it ( French General,  Le Petite Ecole from Moda  It's more muted in the flesh.) it just doesn't appeal anymore
But I've started it so I'll finish it.

The oblong diamond was created by stitching squares at each corner and flipping over..then trimming.

Here are all the trimmed corners.... yes I've stitched them all together...

Maybe I'll get around to making something with them....Project 574!

Oh Christmas Tree...

...The ladies from Quiltesk paid us a visit on Saturday....I wasn't prepared at all, thought I'd do one project.. I didn't like it, didn't bring enough for the second project, what I did bring I had to unpick!... you get the picture.. one of those days where you should have just stayed in bed!.... however...

When  I got home I found the bits I needed..

and made progress...I did cheat, I used striped fabric instead of piecing strips together....

Nearly ready to put it all together...The fabric is Alexander Henry....a  few years old I think.

Charmed...

A charm pack doesn't go very far......so it's a good job I bought two!
It's La Petite Odille by French General for Moda....
But I didn't buy enough for the binding that's why it's not quite finished.

The pattern is a variation of Tumbler Blocks

Not too sure about the colours....which isn't good as I have another range called Le Petite Ecole in the same colourway...

I Know....

..it's early for the C word but I want to get a head start on some gifts...These placemats and coasters are quick and easy to make...

You can use up all those small scraps..

You may remember this little tutorial making the coasters using old CDs..(the only useful thing I've found to do with them..)

Well I've tweaked it a bit....instead of using bias binding to edge the coaster I cut a bias strip 21/4inches wide, ironed it in half and using a zipper foot stitched that around the edge, folded it over the raw edge and hand stitched it to  to the reverse.... just the same as you you would bind a quilt...
xxx.

You May...

...have wondered where I've been...
A&E... that's where, still stuff to deal with but hopefully onwards and upwards. Enough of the personal stuff and on with the pretty pictures. You must have guessed I also have a 'Bit Box' of fabrics!... so inspired by Victoria's book....15 minutes of Play

I started this....

I love quilts with stars...

I loved making up the scrappy fabric.. very random but very liberating..

Isn't the tape measure fabric fab!...they've sold out of white but it is available in yellow

When I get sorted I'll get it stitched and quilted...

Sometimes...

..You just have to keep on practicing...getting the points of theses stars to match up wasn't the easiest of tasks and as you can see I cheated! I covered them up with an appliqued circle. Sometimes life is just too short. One of the stars was made using the paper piecing technique and the other three just cut and pieced in the usual way, both have their advantages..
The pattern came from this blog...I love Victoria's made fabric technique.

If you would like the pattern for the paper pieced star then you can find it in this post.

Next time I wouldn't make the corners in a contrast  fabric.

It's not quite finished , I have the binding to do but it was a great practice piece...

Annie's Quilt....

...What do you get someone who doesn't really want anything for a special birthday?
A quilt!.. her favourite colours are green and purple. (not  good photographs colourwise)

I quilted this in curvy lines... which lined up to form circles... much easier than the meandering thing! which was just as well as it's a single bed size.

She liked it.....

It's Time....

.. for a change..and put my sewing head on......I bought this...

and made this

from scraps

and free machined the whole quilt.. (it measures around 36x48 inches) it loooks nice and wrinkly but talk about hard work... it kept running away with me and I had to remember to breath! I think I need a little more practice.

I like the colours... it looks a little bit Zetti to me... which can only be a good thing.

Seminole and Scraps

....Nasty bugs have stopped play this last week... again. One of the casualties was a weekend retreat, which unfortunately I had to cancel. So there's not been much crafting going on. This is a piece I made around three weeks ago when the Lovely Ladies from Quiltesk came to show us Seminole patchwork. It measures around 16x28 inches.

I wasn't too keen on the wall hanging design they brought along so as usual I did my own thing...one day I will follow the instructions

I used scraps of Kaffe Fassett fabrics

and added a few embellishments

and a little free style quilting.
and there was some fabulous news... The Quiltesk ladies are taking over our one and only local patchwork shop...a shop which previously I had avoided... now I just have to learn to drive out of my postcode!(sad but true... I hate driving!)

I Never....

...usually make New Years resolutions but this year I'm determined to finish all those half done projects.. this mini quilt has been hanging around for at least six months, it's now layered up and quilted....
But what's with all the wrinkles, I used what I usually do, that's Warm and Natural but it's never wrinkled as much as this before... a bit disappointing but at least it's finished. On to the next UFO (Unfinished Object)

Anyone else having Blogger problems?... the box for uploading images from your computor is missing... I had to upload via HTML... then got the old editor format!!!!! what's going on!

You May....

..need your sunglasses. It's bright and it's on it's way to being finished, it's a lot smaller than I thought it would be but anything bigger would take forever..

Thet just need stitching together. I haven't decided how I'll quilt it yet.

... but I love the bright clashy colours.

Punctuation.....

...quilt is finished at last, no fancy quilting on this one, just a few curves on the black and cream pinwheels to break up the squares. I love this fabric... in fact I love most of the American Jane ranges. I've cut the tickets into strips for the narrow border....

Here's the back.................and a picture of Alice.

Another.....

..work in progress. The fabric is Punctuation from Moda, as usual I didn't have enough to make this so had to hunt around for odd bits and pieces.

A lot of trimming of small squares...tedious but necessary.

Iv'e got the sashing ( the ticket strip) and the borders to add as yet.

and to work out how to quilt it..
