June 1st...

.. Monday, was the monthly meeting of EfemeraInk.. we made shrines. This is the sample I made..

This is the one I made on the day.. it just needs a tattooed doll.

I'll post a picture when it's finished.. and I'll give instructions if you would like to make one too.

UFO..No 2

I made this calico bird sometime last year... and the box a long time before that... so..

 I put the two together.. added a piece of ruffled linen ( I love that ruffler attachment. so much so I have one for each sewing machine)

The feet are alphabet blocks from The Pound Shop....two down and a few more to go!

One For The Boys..

...Some time ago we went to The Goodwood Festval of Speed..I bought two vintage toy cars..so
I made this....a little shrine... more of a box with a hole in it really! it measures around 15x15cm and is 4cm deep.  The aperture was cut with a Tim Holtz movers and shapers die ( I love those things...they are  so versatile)

the whole thing is decorated with these Pion papers from 3djean and

I used an old pencil for a handle

Well....

..Christmas has been and gone...and for me it passed in a haze of antibiotics and painkillers! so no lovely festive food or drink( look on the bright side I may have lost a few pounds!) and definately no crafting. This is something I made  a few weeks ago.
 3djean has some cute little cupboards.So loving all things box like....

I added a house shaped roof

Gave the doors some  new handles and took out the shelf.

and some feet.....

 

and one of the odd dolls heads I have hanging about.There's another to follow decorated in an altogether different style

The Lady Of Guadalupe

There's a great tutorial for a Tealight card here.... but it also makes a fab little shrine too. I just cut down the size of the outer card so it looked like a book.. This Lady of guadalupe stamp from 3djean is a favourite at the moment.

The image above is coloured with Distress markes and the one below with Promarkers.

Add some German scrap and a few blobs of Stickles.

Shrines.....

..Some people like them others are not so keen...I love them, for me its the richness of the colours and the imagery. They have no specific meaning for me though I know they do for lots of people, I just find them beautiful....so I made a little one of my own.

The stamp is Our Lady of Guadalupe. I covered her with Glossy Accents and when it was dry cracked it.

I wanted to soften the black German Scrap and add a little colour so I sanded it and coloured it with a yellow Promarker then used some Stickles. The wings were bright orange so they got the yellow promarker treatment too.

Two Little Ducks.........

Happy New Year!

... last from the bit box!....

It is now empty... but not for long I'm sure.

This little birdie is made from an empty handcream tube and a Sizzlits die, coloured with a Promarker and embossed on the reverse.

Out With The Old!

Do you remember this little lot?......the bit box where all the excess and overstamped images live? well it's time for a clear out! I've made two shrines and a book, what's left will be thrown out and a new bit box started for the new year!

This is the first one!... I love this stamp!

I love making something out of odd bits!

Shrine number two will follow shortly!

A Great Weekend.......

and this is some of what we did.....the shrine is by Dusty Attic from 3djean

Painted white with acrylic paint, then coated with TH Picket Fence crackle paint.The city background is zetti as is the Ice Queen. another favourite stamp. She has a halo stamped onto acetate and gems added.

The inner frame is covered in glass glitter... 3djean

The box part is covered with Basic Grey paper.

There were seven of us........ and the end result was seven very different shrines.......

As the Crow Flies!

Gothic arches is a little different this week.............incorporate a matchbox....so guess what I made... a shrine, I just love those things!

Wings are Melissa Francis rub-ons, crows head is ArtChix from 3dJean, German Scrap (tinted with Pro Markers) is from Graphicus. Basic Grey Eerie paper and a few odds and ends..... which we all have boxes of! You may notice extra holes ........ I couldn't decide whether to put in some horizontal bars or not..... Should I or should I not?

Rusty!

Remember the bits of driftwood? and the old baking tins? well the theme for this weeks LTDO challenge is People and Places and The Three Muses theme is rust!

so this little person knows her place............enshrined in a madelaine mould! I do wish I'd bought some more of those!
A few bits of Primark jewellery and some vintage rhinestones adds a bit of glitz!

I just love this little person stamp from Catslife Press.. I'm sure she'll have many more outings!

Back in the land of Blog!

.........after a weeks intensive decorating and the moving of sheds!
On the way home I visited this place
and found these..........some printers blocks, no 'es' but Mr Tim to the rescue again ( I will cut out the Es and stick them to the back of the X and the Q... thus making Effie )

And some fab madelaine molds that will become shrines. The fluted cake tin should make a great stand for some kind of birdie...... which will be made from some fabric I saved when shortening the cutains........ even decorating has some perks!

Angelic?

Some people are freaked out by dolls, probably more so by bodyless ones!. but I think she's quite angelic. Vintage porcelain doll heads are hard to find so an everyday plastic one had to suffice. Covered in Mr Tim's crackle paint I don't think it looks too bad. RSS had all the ingredients. Turquoise, black, white and silver. An angel, ribbon/lace, a heart and wood. Throw them all together and what do you get........................ a shrine, one of my favourite things to make!The wings are Mr Tim's new die covered in crackle paint, coloured with Adirondack colour wash in Stream................... and then Doodlebug glitter which is the fabbiest glitter ever! The heart stamp is Paperbag Studios. I've been keeping some of this old jewellery and haberdashery for years but the time has come... no more saving for best!

That's the way to do it!

Punch and Judy anyone?.... I love little shrines and things in boxes. It started out as something quite different, It was going to be a shrine to hold ATCs but then the stripey background reminded me of those Punch and Judy tents. I was lucky enough to be given some Punch stamps by Flo..........They were just the right thing! Thanks Flo!
