A Little more...

.. Christmasy crafting...These mini canvases are around 3x5 centimeters..

Painted with Viva Croco crackle paint..it had gone mouldy in the jar!
I scraped it off and it worked just fine

The images are from Crafty Individuals

The embellishments are bits and pieces of broken jewellery

January 2013! it's only sat around for 18 months.

Well now it's done..it didn't turn out as I expected

but I quite like it. It's now available for sale on our NiceStuff stall.
So it's on with the next UFO.

In The Red!

... It's that time again... The Ribbon Girl colour challenge and being February the colour is red.
I started with a plain canvas... added a piece of patterned paper, knocked the colour back with gesso.. stuck down a piece of lace, made a frame with a Sizzix die and layered up ribbon, lace and buttons.

I framed the whole thing with strips of torn book pages.

Love the little birdie.

All the lovely trimmings can be found in the Ribbon Girl Shop.
and if you would like the chance to win some then upload your project here

Purple Heart.......

....I think Iv'e been hit with the lavender stick and may have to lie down in  a darkened room! Lavender is not a colour I use very often ( twice in a week!) and considering I have a button phobia it's a wonder this project for Scattered Scarlet happened at all!

It's a 6x6 inch canvas... painted with lilac acrylic paint, the edges daubed with Viva Croco in gold.... I was too impatient and dried it with a heat gun... the result.. not much crackle so I wiped some of the still sticky paint off.

I stamped the dotty stamp and embossed it in gold, stuck it to a chipboard heart and stitched buttons onto it. Strips of gold faux mesh tinted with a purple Pro Marker surround the heart.

The heart is mounted onto an old book page and glued to the canvas...

I'm traumatised now so I'm off for a lie down!

All Puffed Out!

...The UKScrappers Blog Hop has finished... if NikiG could E-Mail me that would be great....Now for something not quite completely different. It's a six inch canvas, it had been hanging around for ages with just a coat of turquoise paint...

The Puffin is by Alice Palace from Crafty Individuals... he's stamped and glued to chipboard to give a little depth.Washi tape makes a great border, just make sure you add extra glue to stick it down.

the map page just happens to include the home of Crafty Individuals.... Yarm!

I love that clock stamp.. it seems to be appearing on lots of stuff lately!

EfemeraInk

.. met on Monday, we decorated canvases, instead of paper, stamps and Mod Podge we used fabrics..this is a brief description of how we did it.... first cover the canvas with a layer of thin lace or tulle, use PVA glue, then add patches of thick lace, glue down..cover everything with gesso..

add extra depth and texture with chipboard shapes.. glue down and gesso.. I used the same brush all the time, next time I think I will make up a mixture of equal parts gesso and glue.

The aim was to get everyhing 'melded' together and create a textured surface.Colour was added with spray inks.. sprayed on and wiped off and extra bits added with a paintbrush. Extra embellishments added when everything was dry. Add the focal point.. I used a Tim Holtz doll... with a crown of course.

I love this bling stuff.. you can get it here..

This one is a work in progress... I wanted a little more colour this time..the flowers were gessoed and inked, layered and stamens stuck in the middle.

It's Back........

.........to the inky painty fingers!.....sometimes I think it must be so comfortable to stick to just one craft..but I can't stick to one thing for long, I'm always off in search of the next project...exciting but sometimes exhausting!

Today is canvases......I'd saved the pictures from an old calendar.
They measure 6x6 inches.

I love icons...it's the flat graphic look combined with the rich colours.

I'm hoping to do a craft fair near to Christmas so I hope others like these too!

Was the EfemeraInk monthy meet ( a week early because of the bank holiday) we made canvases..they're 8x8"
From the top left Jean, Gill, Me and Jan.

Liz, Sylvia, Sheila and Fiona

and some more for the shop!

These are very addictive.. a fab excuse to get inky and painty.

There's More.......

This time it's a mini canvas.. it measures 3"x3". There's a mini hanging swap over on UKStampers and this is my offering... inspired again by Christy Tomlinson's class. I never was a Mod Podge girl, it was always far too messy for me., I like the crisp clean look or the totally grungy but I think I've been converted!
She's now running an art journalling class but I'm already doing something of the kind on UKStampers and that's traumatising enough!

And Now.......

for my version......... it's not that I don't like the girlies, I do very much but I wanted to do my own thing and what do I like?......birds of course and cats.

I couldn't figure a way of doing mouths so I've done without.... ( after everything I've said about mouthless stamps too!)
The cat was a nice simple image to create in paper...

so was the bird.. I'm not to good with the black pen outline thing either, it's a bit too uncontrolled for me. There's the neat freak again

I decided to add some bling to each piece as a kind of signature...hopefully these will make it to the Gallery
I have to say a huge thank you to Christy Tomlinson for the great class and the inspiration without which I wouldn't have done these.

Ta Da!......

All finished......... I've loved this class, and I've only one more week to go. I love the way this girl works, stuff everywhere and constantly changing her mind!
I've done this one following the instructions ( That must be a first!) but needless to say I've gone on to do my own thing... more of that later.

If you like this then I really recommend the class.... she makes it all so easy!

Another Step Closer!

A few layers of paint have been added now. I've used acrylic paint through mesh and stencils.

and stamped with black Stazon.

So just have to put the girlie on now.

I've really enjoyed doing this....more later this week.

Something's Not Right......

When you start saving projects for 'best'
It's one thing to save stash for 'best' and I know I'm not the only one to do this ( I am trying hard to break this habit) but saving projects for'best' seems a little excessive!

I'm taking an online class, The She Art Workshop with Christy Tomlinson and this is as far as I've got, week 1 they're doing week 3!
I really want to crack on but for some reason I'm saving it for 'best'!

Inky!

It's been a while since I've been inky fingers...........and I've had this idea in my head for some time, ever since I bought this Sizzlits Stencil alphabet. I cut random bits of coloured card and used it to stencil letters with gesso onto hand painted papers....

I didn't like the result but did like the stencil bit with the gesso on!

So I spritzed with Adirondack colour washes and Glimmer Mists......It still needed something so I stamped with black Stazon ( Hero Arts stamps) and added text underneath... some plain and some coloured.

Still something lacking............... so I stitched each one in gold ....

Then stuck them all to a 12x12" canvas........the edges were a bit bare so............ they got covered in text!
Finished!

Recycled..........

I hate throwing things away......... but there comes a time when it has to be either used or ditched! That time is now! This calendar from 2001 has far to many lovely images to just throw in the trash... It's all pictures from Diane Ulmer Pedersen
So with a few cheap canvases, Mr Tims crackle paint and a cute little hanger they now have a new lease of life!
Don't you just love this cat!.................

I don't think my cat would resist the temptation!
