It Seemed....

... like a good idea at the time...I started my crafting life as a dressmaker.. (some time ago) but it has taken a back seat for sometime now...after a long break I made a few dresses last year which were successful so I decided to spend a little more time sewing.....Dear me I now know why I took a long break...I wanted a sleeveless shirt dress, nothing complicated..After numerous alterations to the pattern and two toiles, a day of putting it together

IT'S NOW IN THE BIN!

..and the revers were perfect!....you know when something feels like it's wearing you instead of you wearing it?... well that's how it felt....and it looked just like an old ladies overall!....the more I looked at it I just couldn't get that thought out of my head.
I just can't find anything in the shops that I like that fits.... WHITE STUFF... MAKE BIGGER SIZES!
Maybe I should stop eating pies.... now where's that cup of tea and piece of cake.

Thanks for the giggle Effie, a brilliant post. Seeing someone who can sew put something in the bin is a rather rare occurence these days. Am sure you will rescue the material and create something more for home decor.

Feel the same about clothes, i would love to get back to my fighting weight but medication & tiredness aren't my friend and i so love a good cup of coffe and a slice of cake...

Loved your post! :-) x

Oh sorry Gail but I could not help but laugh. Cheered me up on a rotten Monday at work.

And yes - why don't nice places make bigger sizes - we all don't want to look like old ladies even if I do feel like one sometimes

Oh what a shame after all that hard work and such pretty fabric! After a few years being side tracked by paint and paper made 6 bridesmaids dresses...all standard sizes BUT the patterns measurements seemed to be out to me. I discovered that patterns have changed and just don't seem to be the English sizes they say they are :-( And YES...we do need a wider range of sizes in the patterns!!!!! xxx

Wonderful post.. really cheered me up. At least you can sew.. I made a nightdress when I was at school and it was marked as upgrade able...so I haven't sewn since! Lol

Oh no! What a shame. I haven't made clothes for years ... not sure I'd remember how now :-(

Oh, that's such a shame, after all the hard work. I've just returned to dressmaking after a 20 year break. I'm half way through a dress and hoping it isn't going to meet the same fate as yours!

OMG! You made me laugh as I recalled making a dress with my daughter a few years ago. She wanted to sew, and after all of the measurements and pattern alterations, that's EXACTLY what WE did . . . . into the trash it all went!!! Hugs ♥ Terri
